St. Michael the Archangel and the Guardian Angels- Liguori

This booklet has remained unpublished until now (1866); it was recently discovered in Rome among the writings of our Holy Author. Having received an authentic copy, we hastened to translate it for the benefit of the faithful. It consists of sermon outlines for a novena in honor of Saint Michael; they can also be used for meditation. One can clearly see the devotion Saint Alphonsus had for the great Archangel; moreover, he had the happiness of being baptized on the very day of Saint Michael’s principal feast, September 29, and was from that moment placed under his special protection by receiving his name among his baptismal names. He chose him as the first Patron of his religious institute, after the Mother of God, and he never failed to turn to him with confidence in all his needs. He even made a pilgrimage to his sanctuary on Mount Gargano, where he celebrated Mass with great edification in 1731.
